Beijing launched its film and television production service mechanism on Wednesday amid the bustling atmosphere of the Beijing International Film Festival, aiming to provide related industrial units with enhanced and streamlined services.
At the city level, establishing the Beijing Film and Television Production Service Center is a pivotal development.
At the district level, specific departments and specialized personnel have been designated to cater to the needs of film and television production units. Services include information consultation and shooting coordination designed to make it easier to film projects.
As a national cultural center, Beijing boasts an impressive array of over 20,000 film and television enterprises. These enterprises cover various aspects of the film and television industry chain, including creative production, shooting and distribution, making up 40 percent of the total number of such enterprises nationwide.
In recent years, the city has witnessed a significant surge in projects within the film and television sector, leading to an urgent demand for more efficient and comprehensive services.
Earlier this year, the Beijing government introduced progressive policies to improve film and television production services, guarantee mechanisms, and enhance support for such production.
Zhao Weidong, a senior municipal government official, said that the improvements are not only a necessity for the industry but also a long-awaited development for the city.
Wang Jiequn, head of the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, said the city will continue to better serve its filming community.
"There will be a significant increase in fund support for major film productions, aiming to foster an environment conducive to the development of new, high-quality film and television productions in the capital," he said.
During the event, several districts, including Chaoyang, Haidian, Tongzhou and Huairou, showcased their unique film and television resources and related support service policies.
Chaoyang district, known for hosting the largest concentration of film and television enterprises in Beijing, has devised a comprehensive supportive action plan for film and television production from 2023 to 2025.
Leveraging its historical and cultural resources and university assets, Haidian has compiled the first batch of film and television shooting resource lists and established a film and television service center.
Tongzhou has established a dedicated film and television production service department and issued detailed implementation rules to promote the high-quality development of the audiovisual industry.
Huairou, recognized as a national-level film and television industry demonstration zone, has attracted over 1,700 film and cultural enterprises. The district has also achieved a significant milestone, with a cumulative production of over 4,000 film and television projects, solidifying its position as a thriving hub for creative endeavors.
